Blue My Mind
Blue My Mind has true blue flowers and silvery-green foliage. This heat-tolerant annual does not require deadheading. It looks great in containers alone, in combinations of all kinds, and in the landscape as well.
The first evolvulus was Blue Daze, which has been around for a long time and was one of two plants chosen as the first Mississippi Medallion winners in 1996. Blue Daze has fantastic, true-blue, funnel-shaped flowers. I like the fast-spreading growth rate that makes Blue Daze a good ground cover in front of an Indian hawthorn planting in my front landscape.
Not too many plants are this maintenance-free. Watering during dry periods and light monthly applications of fertilizer will keep your plants blooming until frost. No deadheading is needed. This color of blue stands out like the best supporting flower award winner it is, even when paired with a Superbells Hollywood Star calibrachoa.
The eye catching, brilliantly hued, true blue flowers of this sun loving plant create a striking accent in the landscape. Plant en masse for even greater effect. Blooms summer to fall atop silvery green leaves.
Blue My Mind is a dwarf cultivar of morning glory. The true blue flowers and fuzzy, silvery-green foliage are very heat tolerant, making it a great addition to southern gardens, No dead-heading required to keep it blooming all summer. Blooms will close in the afternoon. The plant grows to1 foot tall and trails up to 2 feet. In NC it is grown as an annual.
True blue flowers are never easy to find, but the truly difficult endeavor is finding true blue flowers on very heat tolerant plants. Blue My Mind Away Evolvulus is the equivalent of hitting the jackpot. True blue flowers, loves the heat and blooms all summer long. Blue My Mind is perfect for creating containers and can be a great garden plant, but it has a hard time keeping up with other plants in combinations. Blue My Mind Away, is more vigorous so it will keep up well with other moderately vigorous plants. If you are planting a combination recipe, that vigor is needed. If you are planting just evolvulus, Blue My Mind will give you the best color show.

For most of its run-time Blue My Mind feels more like a Swiss twin to Thirteen than it does any Universal Monster Movie, or even a grisly fable like Ginger Snaps - Mia (a genuinely moving Luna Wedler) is always a few steps behind her urges trying to catch up, trying to get a hand on what her mind and body are suddenly making her do. Unfortunately puberty, it's a slippery sucker, developing gills instead of lungs to scream. We're all some stranger's science project some days in the mirror.
Brühlmann has great instincts, washing Mia's world in blacks and blues, all the better to cover the bruises. And she's gathered an achingly natural cast - reminding me of Nadia Alexander in Blame last year the stock character of the Teen Bad Girl is given suprising depths here with Mia's new friend Gianna (Zoë Pastelle Holthuizen); their relationship plays out like nothing you expect it to at first glance, digging into the bonds of female friendship astride the throes of teenage hormones, taking unexpectedly small and lovely turns even as the scales begin to tip inevitably towards horror.
